Windermere World Record Butterfly Swim: Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE & Rob Farrow Meet
On 4th October 2025, Rob Farrow who had recently swam Lake Windermere on Butterfly, met with Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE at the Endless Pool in Loughborough.
Julie had been the first person to swim the 10.5 mile course of Lake Windermere Butterfly on 4th September 1991 in a time of 6hrs and 7mins. She also swam it again the opposite way in 2000, in a time of 6hrs and 11 mins
Rob swam the entire course in 7hrs and 44 seconds and is believed to be the first man to accomplish this remarkable feat.
Both swimmers had been in touch in the months leading to Rob’s successful ‘fly’ swim on 20th September 2025.
