20th Anniversary of Investiture at Buckingham Palace: 24th February 2006
On Tuesday 24th February 2026, Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE celebrated her 20th Anniversary of receiving her MBE at Buckingham Palace. This had been announced in the late Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
The MBE was conferred upon her for ‘Services to Swimming and Charity’ and attended by certain family members and friends. Julie recalls how proud her Mum was to be there when the King, then Prince Charles spoke with her and gave Dr Bradshaw the award. Julie has raised thousands for charity over the years and continues to do so.

Dr Bradshaw who works in the field of Mental Health as a Psychotherapist and Life Coach, reflected on the day this week.
She has made numerous World Records over the years, starting out with Windermere and Morecambe Bay as a 14 year old and conquering the English Channel a year later, aged 15.
Over her swimming career, Julie has organised various marathon swims both solo and relay. She currently holds the Butterfly World Record for the English Channel, and has even ‘butterflied’ around Manhattan Island (28.5 miles). Her longest swim was a Four Way Windermere (42 miles) when she broke the record and became the first woman to complete it.
