STA Conference 29th October 2022: “The Channel of Business Success”

We were lucky enough to have Dr. Julie Bradshaw as a motivational speaker at the Ecoflow Conference. People were astounded by her personal achievements with swimming and truly inspired by her clarity and self-belief. They genuinely felt privileged to meet her and still talk about her successes all these years later. There is no doubt that she inspires others to achieve more.

(Mark De Salis, Ecoflow Network Coordinator & Company Trainer

Julie came to speak at Bromsgrove School in the Michaelmas Term. She delivered a wonderfully engaging and inspirational talk about her achievements in swimming, most notably her cross Channel swims. Her talk outlined the dedication that you have to have when preparing for long distance endurance events and highlighted Julie’s own inner strength and tenacity. She came across as a wonderful role model…her photos and footage really made the talk come alive…I can recommend her highly…

(D.Draper, Wellington College, Berkshire )

Julie spoke to our Club…as a body we were enthralled and somewhat in awe of the achievements she recounted. It was an engaging and stimulating talk and left us all wondering how it was possible for a relatively slight person to achieve so much. It left us amazed at the amount of training needed to be done to achieve the distances she is able to swim…It is an honour to recommend Julie as a very interesting, lively and inspiring speaker and her talk will surprise and humble most individuals but also provide motivation to do something to improve ones own well-being.

(S.M.Roberts, Secretary Rotary Club of Loughborough Beacon)

Julie came to Hawes Side…she spoke with passion about her swimming and enthused the children with her achievements. Julie’s talk was both motivational and inspirational; the pupils were amazed by her feats but also inspired to achieve highly themselves. We often talk about role models and great achievers, so it was fantastic to have the opportunity to have such a person in school, to share first hand the hard work, preparation dedication and ultimately rewarding experiences Julie has enjoyed…

(Michael Shepherd, Headmaster)

Julie proved to be a very able speaker; she was responsive to the needs of her audience…her talk was well illustrated by images and captions…of her illustrious swimming achievements. She was able to incorporate humour and appeared confident and knowledgeable. A great many expressed their enjoyment at the reception, which followed. I can recommend Dr. Bradshaw for similar events.

(Colin White, Marketing and Admissions Manager, Arnold School)

The World Cold Water Swimming Championships were held at the Tooting Bec Lido Feb 9th and 10th. Attended by 700 swimmers from all over the world and over 1000 spectators there were a grand celebration of the pleasures and challenges of open water swimming…a day long seminar of talks and stories was held…we were delighted that Dr. Julie Bradshaw MBE was able to join us. She held the tent spellbound as she relayed the remarkable achievement of swimming the Channel butterfly. For novice swimmers and channel swimmers alike…Julie’s accounts of her swimming life were truly impressive and inspiring to hear about. Particularly notable was the moment Julie got the audience on their feet to try out…exactly WHAT swimming the Channel butterfly could achieve for them by closing their eyes and imagining their own flights through the water. We were delighted to host such a world class swimmer and look forward to welcoming her again to the Lido soon.

(Lucy Neal OBE, Member SLSC and Organiser of World Winter Championships)

On February 20th 2009 Julie did a presentation for our group on her personal achievements as a Channel swimmer. She inspired the group about what they can achieve for themselves and that anything is possible. Many thanks Julie as this has given us food for thought and how it can be used in Recovery from Mental Distress.

(R. Eldessouky CPN, Women's Recovery Group, Charnwood)

Staff in our company are undertaking a series of relay swims of the English Channel for the Irish Cancer Society. Julie came over to our offices in Dublin to share her swimming experiences and motivate the team. Julie gave the team a unique insight into the world or Channel swimming. Without doubt Julie's presentation has played a large part in our preparation for this challenge."

Julie, I would like to take this opportunity to send our sincerest appreciation for the day you spent with Warlingham School, Surrey (29th April), opening our district primary schools gala in our newly retiled swimming pool, and for the very enjoyable seminars that you ran, involving our 'Gifted and Talented' pupils.

On communication with pupilis involved, they all stated how interesting it was to be able to have contact with a superior athlete, a pioneer in the field, and to learn to understand exactly what is needed for someone to become successful.

We would like to continue our link with yourself and please whenever in London or Surrey, feel free to come and visit."

I found the workshop and talk that Julie delivered exciting and motivating. The demonstration of goal visualisation and the tool to get rid of certain unhelpful behaviours, was more than interesting. I have been able to go back and put into practice both in my business and at home, what I learnt during the day.

Well, what can I say, Julie.

Thank you very much indeed for coming to talk to us about your life and swimming last night. It was certainly most interesting and the video was very good. All the ladies (and gentlemen) enjoyed your visit and it got them all talking, which is a good thing.

Nusing Manufacturing based in Loughborough and the countries leading
suppliers of Acoustic Movable Walls in the Uk recently held a sales seminar
at their headquarters in Kernan Drive Loughborough. Their sister Company
Brockhouse sent all of their sales force and technical staff to Loughborough
to learn about the launch of some new innovative products. The highlight of
the two day course was the introduction of a motivational speaker to enthuse
the sales men into re invigorating their sales drive in what are difficult
trading times.

This was the first time the Company had decided to use a guest speaker in
this manner. So who better than to call on than Dr Julie Bradshaw from
Loughborough. Julie has to be one of the most inspirational people you could
ever wish to meet and her exploits are well known throughout the world of
swimming. Julie focused on her greatest achievement in swimming the English
Channel using the Butterfly stroke. Her experience and how she prepared for
the event as well as her attitude to "Nothing is impossible if you put your
mind to it",went down extremely well with the 16 invited sales staff.

Neil O'Halleran Sales Director of Brockhouse commented " The whole event was
a great success with the highlight being Julie's talk, not only were her
exploits inspirational but the words and thought process behind the whole
talk left everyone with a very positive mind set that they have now taken
into their own work with great success" "March and April were record months
for the Company."

Martin Sarsfield Operations Director for Nusing Manufacturing will be
looking to use Julie in the future for further training days and will be
supporting her with her new record attempts and the raising of money for
Rainbow's Hospice. "

Thanks for your hard work on Wednesday. Both sessions and the NLP exercises were very enjoyable and I am sure that the company Director’s and LATi Members who attended the events learnt a lot about themselves and how to communicate more effectively in a variety of business situations.

“I was part of the audience at the LATI seminar where Julie spoke about communication with particular reference to NLP. Although I have used NLP extensively in the past, it was refreshing to hear a different take on it! Julie is engaging and approachable and pitched the seminar at the right level for the audience - it was fun as well as educational.” April 19 (LinkedIn)

Great talk at the Business Club, Northampton last week. Thanks

Northampton Business Club

I am writing to recommend Dr. Julie Bradshaw MBE to anyone who would like to hear an inspirational speaker at any event or meeting.

(Pam Mannell, RD Associates MK Ltd Milton Keynes)

Julie captivated our audience at the Business Club in Northants recently, combining stories of her swimming heroics with links to personal development training. The feedback from my members was excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending Julie as a speaker/trainer

(Mike Willis CEO The Business Club Northants Ltd)

Dr. Julie Bradshaw MBE spoke at the Hinkley Business Association Quarterly Dinner and was a big hit! The talk was informative and inspiring and gave great life lessons that are easy to adopt and maintain.

The dinner guests were all business owners or professionals and the feedback we received was that Julie had delivered an awe inspiring account of her life and was a true inspiration on how to thrive and survive no matter what the conditions.

The last couple of years have been hard for businesses but Julie's talk left those that attended feeling up beat and determined to succeed that year. The title of our dinner was 'Why this year will be the best year for businesses in Hinckley' and Julie reinforced this sentiment with a no nonsense approach to life that can't help but make people want to get up and achieve! We can't thank Julie enough for setting our guests off on the right path.

2012 was a big year for me (Simon) – In 9 months I managed to shed around 5 stone and successfully complete my first triathlon. Along the way I had the good fortune to get to know a handful of elite athletes who helped me, by their example, to keep me going. Julie kindly agreed to pen some kind words for my book. This describes my journey from massively overweight middle aged fat bloke to reasonably fit aspiring athlete.

With the Olympics around the corner in July 2012 it only seemed only right to invite Julie to be interviewed on stage in front of an audience comprising members and visitors of the Midlands Leadership Experience.

Julie embodies everything you expect from a multiple world record holder elite athlete and very hard working, titled professional; laser like focus on what she wants, unshakeable self-belief, determined, persistent, grafts, unquenchable appetite to learn by doing, restless, wanting more, detailed planning, building a powerful support team and lastly colossal action. Julie is one of the busiest people I know with a degree of humility to match.

It goes without saying that Julie has it all in abundance and ANYONE will be inspired by her story.

I’ll leave you with just one comment from a participant which says it all."

“I very much enjoyed the meeting on Tuesday evening, I left feeling uplifted and inspired”. (Paul Kraeger)

(Simon Bozeat Consulting, Marriott Hotel, Leics July 24th 2012)

Simon Bozeat,

Julie inspired and motivated both pupils and staff when she came to speak to our Sports Scholars at Wellington College. Her lecture helped them understand the commitment and hard work needed to reach the top in her demanding sport.

Many thanks on a thought-provoking talk on how to achieve your sporting
goals and dreams.
