20th Anniversary of “Monstrous” Loch Ness Triple Swim

TWENTY YEARS ago on 27th to 28th August 2005, Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE led an intrepid team of six swimmers who made a World Record by becoming the first and only women’s team to conquer the Loch Ness Triple, covering the distance in 34 hours 36 minutes and 23 seconds.
The swim was conducted under BLDSA rules meaning each person swimming for an hour in rotation until completion of the swim.
Each length of Loch Ness is approximately 23 miles (37kms) so the total distance of the THREE WAY being around 69 miles. The team swam overnight and through the day in the icy cold waters of the loch, wearing only a swimming costume, hat and goggles.
