The goal of pet therapy is to improve a client’s social, emotional and cognitive functioning and many studies have shown the positive effects of animals used for therapeutic purposes.
At Get Set 4 Success, Julie and her canine team help the client with a variety of mental health issues such as ADHD, PTSD, learning disabilties, anxiety, phobias (eg. dogs!), stress and many more. Julie’s Team provide that extra support with canine companionship and social interaction assisting the client which allows them the distraction often needed to be in ‘the moment’.
In addition to working at her Practice Julie takes her dogs to work therapeutically with those people in nursing homes and for the elderly living on their own. Children also love to have them around as they find it so relaxing stroking the ‘girls’ and gain a lot of pleasure.
Over the years Dr. Julie Bradshaw has used her own pets to help clients in many ways and having had dogs for the majoirty of her life she knows what it is like when they ‘fly to the Rainbow Bridge’.
“Because we share an intense love and bond with our pets, it is natural to feel devastated and have feelings of grief and sadness when they die. Losing a pet can trigger all sorts of painful emotions and it is important that we grieve for our friends. Whilst some people may not understand the depth of love we had and always will have for our loved pet, it is important to talk about the feelings. Talking is the healthy process by which we are able to move forward.”
Come and share your feelings with Julie and her Team in a empathic, supportive, understanding and caring environment.
